In The Spotlight

Today I have Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear In The Spotlight. It has quite the title. It's also quite the polish! It simply consists of holographic bar glitter in a clear base. The holograph is very strong, so it actually looks like you have glitter on your nails rather than just odd rectangles. To get a good coverage you kind of have to place the glitter, but only a bit. Something I really like about this polish is that all the glitter lies flat so it doesn't hang off the nail and snag on things, which I usually experience when using bar glitter. It's a simple polish that provides a very interesting touch to a plain color.
I layered ITS over Xtreme Wear Emerald City, Hot Magenta, China Glaze Frostbite, Coconut Kiss, and Cross Iron 360.

It's Purr-Fect Too!

I've been seeing more and more of Sally Hansen Salon Effects Avril Lavigne collection in stores lately. The one that really catches my eye is Purr-Fect, a rainbow cheeta print. I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I don't think that the Salon Effects strips are worth the price, so I searched through my polishes to find a way to recreate the design myself! Here's what I came up with.
The base color is Xtreme Wear Celeb City. I also used, in order from green to yellow, Xtreme Wear Ivy League, Zoya Apple, Orly Sweet Peacock, Milani Blue Lightning, Xtreme Wear Purple Pizzazz, Plum Power, China Glaze 108 Degrees, Zoya Carrie Ann, China Glaze Riveting, and Nicole By OPI Dandy Lion

Roller Coaster

Hello! Today's nail art is actually a day old. Yesterday the physics students at my school, including me, took a field trip to Six Flags. Being the roller coaster fan that I am, I was pumped, so I had to do some nail art for the occasion! I just painted a standard roller coaster. If I had had more time I would have liked to have added a bit more detail, but this suffices.
I used Color Club Take Me To Your Chateau, Heart To Heart, Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, and a black and white.

It's Hip To Be Square

Here is some neat geometric nail art that also comes with a Huey Lewis and The News reference, double win! I tried to go for bright 80's colors. I've had this idea in mind since my 31 Day Challenge.
I used Xtreme Wear Twisted Pink, Mellow Yellow, Color Club Twiggie, Pucci-Licious, and China Glaze For Audrey.

A Nice Power Point

Hello! This is the manicure I have been sporting today. I wanted to cut some tape with craft scissors to mark off my nail, but the tape wouldn't cut right, so I resorted to just free handing a simpler design. My friend kept saying that it looked like the background on a nice powerpoint presentation.
I used China Glaze For Audrey, and Secret Peri-Wink-Le

A Pink Zebra?

Instead of doing a regular zebra print, I thought I would add a bit of a pink accent to it! My zebra print looks more like plain stripes though, I didn't make the lines shakey enough. Before I took these picture my ring finger started chipping, so I covered up the bareness with some glitter.
I used Wet N Wild French White Creme, Black Creme, Zoya Kiki, and Xtreme Wear Rockstar Pink

He-Man

Today's manicure is inspired by the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man!

Orko's outfit, Cringer/ Battle Cat, the symbol on He-Mans chest, The Sorceress's head piece
The symbol on Skeletor's chest

I used Xtreme Wear Cherry Red, Sun Kissed, Gunmetal, Mellow Yellow, China Glaze Starboard, Riveting, Orly Sweet Peacock, A black and a white, and I frankened the skin tone colors for The sorceress, and Skeletor.

My First Mate Dorothy

This is a momentous day. I finally got a dark blue creme finished polish. I've been in need of one for a while, but I just kept putting it off. I laid my eyes on China Glaze First Mate, and I knew it was time to invest. It applied very smoothly and had great coverage. Since I'm not huge on wearing creme colors plain, especially a whole manicure of one, I added a bit of glitter using China Glaze Dorothy Who?.

Plenty Of Prismatic

Alright, this is my last post using any of these colors for a while. I wanted to combine all the China glaze Prismatic colors together into one manicure. I was going to gradient, but they didn't want to blend into each other, so it's more of just stripes. I used China Glaze Full Spectrum (pink), Optical Illusion (green), and Liquid Crystal (blue).

China Glaze Liquid Crystal

Liquid Crystal is the last of the China Glaze Prismatic collection that I own. It has bright blue and silver micro glitter and larger rainbow glitters. It's also has a purple duochrome! This is the first prismatic polish that I could actually see the duochrome in! I used two coats for these swatches.

A Different Kind Of Flame

Today I have a flame manicure, but it's a little bit different than most. Instead of using traditional flame colors, I went for a more cool tone. My black was kind of tacky so it made lines along some of the flames, but other than that, I actually really like this.
I used Xtreme Wear Fuchsia Power, Blue Me Away, Color Club Pucci-licious, and a black.

Milani Gems

Gems consists of orange, pink, green, silver, yellow, light blue hexagonal shaped glitters, and smaller red, blue, and silver glitters in a clear base. I supposed you could wear it by itself if you used another coat, but the polish would probably super thick. I also think they re-formulated Gems, while at Walgreens I found a different version of this polish in the exact same display. I was tempted to buy it as well, but I did really like it that much.

Milani Hot Pink

Hot Pink has equal sized hot pink and holographic glitters in a clear base. The glitters are really sparse, so this polish can not be worn alone. The swatch I have below is a thick coat of the polish because the glitters had to placed on the nail.  I love the way the glitter looks in the bottle, but since the glitters are all equal in size, they don't provide a great coverage.

China Glaze Optical Illusion

Here is another color from the China Glaze Prismatic collection. This is Optical Illusion. Its micro glitter is a really pretty light green/ aqua color, with some silver mixed in. Like the other Prismatics, it also has an array of larger glitters. I'm pretty sure this is two coats. This is also supposed to be duochrome but it's really only noticeable in the bottle, and doesn't translate onto the nail.

China Glaze Full Spectrum

Finally the Prismatic collection has arrived at my local Sally's, and luckily they have a buy two polishes get one free sale going on at the moment! I picked up three of the Prismatics, the first I have to show is Full Spectrum. It mainly has baby pink micro glitter, with a little silver throw in, and larger glitters in an array of colors. Despite all that's going on, it's actually kind of subtle on the nail.  I only used two thicker coats, and the application was pretty good for such a glitter packed polish. The polish is described to be a duochrome, which is very visible in the bottle, but didn't really transfer onto the nail.

The Flash

Today's manicure is based on my dads favorite super hero, The Flash! For this manicure I mainly drew inspiration from his uniforms. My pinky is the lightning bolt extending of the uniform nearby his ear, my ring finger is the design on the chest of Golden Age Flash, my middle finger is the design on the chest of the more modern Flash, and on my pointer is the belt. On my thumb it says Flash in the font on the comics.
My thumb did not want to photograph clearly!
I used Xtreme Wear Cherry Red, Mellow Yellow, Wet N Wild Black Creme, and French White Creme.
