Magnetic Starburst

I recently rediscovered my magnetic polishes, and I've been kind of crazy about them lately. I never really used them before because there's not a whole lot you can do for nail art and I found them to be a bit underwhelming. My tests for these turned out great, however, because my nails are curved, the magnet doesn't hit my entire nail with the same strength and the design isn't as sharp. For these I used the star burst pattern from the original China Glaze magnet on magnetic polishes Color Club Hipnotic and Color Club Steel of the Night. Just to add a little something, I used star glitters from Wet N Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame.

China Glaze Magnetix II

Hello! Today I have swatches of my picks from the China Glaze Magnetix II collection. This collection came out last September. I'm pretty late on this one... I took these pictures around Christmas and completely forgot about them. The collection included new colors, and a magnet with three new designs! From the collection I got Con-Fused?, and Sparks Will Fly. This collection is definitely an improvement on the original Magnetix, and the magnet designs are much more interesting.
Con-Fused? is a green, my only green magnetic! I used two coats, and the formula was good. This polish picked up the designs very well.
Sparks Will Fly is a blue that, when the magnet is used, shows a blurple color. It's really pretty! This polish didn't pick up the designs from the magnet as well, they weren't really defined when compared with the green, but the bulls-eye just looks so neat!

Mixed Magnetic

Today I have a pretty neat manicure using magnetic polishes. There's really not much you can do in the way of nail art when it comes to magnetics, but I wanted to do something other than just one plain color. So, to mix it up I just did two different colors on one nail. In order to do this I painted one side of my nail with one color and magnetized it. Once that was fully dry, I came back with another color and then used the magnet on that. The line down the center isn't perfectly straight because you have to work fast when using magnetic polishes, they dry pretty quickly.
I used Color Club Steel Of The Night, Hipnotic, China Glaze Pull Me Close, and Instant Chemistry. I used the magnetic that comes with the Color Club polishes.

Nabi Magnetic Nail Polish

I was so excited when my local Walgreens finally put out a display of the Nabi Magnetic Nail Polish. The display includes a ton of unique colors that aren't commonly found in magnetic collections, all for about 4 dollars. I'm glad they were so cheap because they are the worst polishes I think I've ever used, magnetic ability aside. I picked up three nameless colors. Just take a look at the fantastic results I had. The pictures are kind of icky because I didn't clean up my nails, or put top coat on, because I knew I was going to take these off immediately.
First, the formula on these polishes was awful. It was extremely thick, goopy, and tacky. The nail polish felt like it was half dry before I even painted it on my nails. The magnet on these bottles is attached to the brush, and it doesn't have a lip on it, so it was near impossible for me to keep a steady hand, and not hit my wet polish with the magnet. The magnets included with these polishes just wasn't working for me, so I tried it out with the China Glaze magnet instead. Still, hardly any image appeared! The only one that really even kind of worked was the green, and that had the worst formula of all of them. I'm sure it's a bit obvious, but I would never recommend these. I would rather have bought one 8 dollar magnetic than have two of these horrible polishes.

Cop An Attitude

I finally found the Color Club Magnetic Force collection in stores, and I couldn't resist picking up another one. I ended up getting Cop An Attitude. I'm not huge on the color, I expected orange but it turned out to be more of a copper. What I really liked about this polish is that glitter becomes visible after applying the magnet.

China Glaze Magnetix

If you've seen my recent posts then you may know that I recently celebrated a birthday. I got some awesome gifts, and one of them included polished from the China Glaze Magentix collection, along with
the magnet. I got Instant Chemistry, and Pull Me Close.
I love the colors of both the polishes, but PMC is better overall, mainly due to the fact that when the magnet is used there is a great contrast in color and the design is much more clear and noticeable. The formula on these was fine, they applied similarly to a metallic polish. After reading some slightly poor reviews of the magnet, I was pleasantly surprised. For my first time using that magnet I think the designs turned out pretty well.

Color Club Magnetics

My friend works at Hot Topic and knowing that I'm a polish fanatic, informed me immediately that the Color Club Magnetic Force collection came into stock. Color Club at a Hot Topic? This brand seems to pop up in the most unusual places. Anyway, my friend picked up a few of the colors from this collection for me! I decided to only get three because they are my first magnetic polishes, and I might have not even ended up liking this effect.
The circular bottles really threw me off at first.

These are Color Club Steel Of The Night, Electro-Midnight, and Hipnotic. They applied really smoothly. Since the magnet comes off, the brush handle is tiny so the brush itself is kinda large in comparison. It was pretty weird to get used to that. I put the magnet on for about 20 seconds to get a nice sharp image. Something I don't like about these is that  after you take the magnet off, the image begins to dissipate. Other than that it's a neat look and it's also kinda fun to do. I can't wait to play around with these more!
