Two Trends In One

About this time last year the Crackle trend was beginning. It's been a while so I thought I would do a bit of crackle. But instead of just crackle I decided to add some flare with a more recent trend, flakies. I like the contrast of the flakies over the blue and white.
I layered China Glaze Crackle Lightning Bolt, Essie Shine Of The Times, and FingerPaints Asylum over Essie Go Overboard.

Milani Teal

Milani recently released a new colors in their collection called Jewel FX. Unfortunately, they all have boring names, for instance, I got Teal. Teal has small blue glitters with larger green blue and silver hexagonal glitters in a clear base. It's really pretty but the glitters are too sparse to wear by itself. I put it on top of Zoya Noel, which might not have been the best choice...
Teal by itself.
No qualms about application, except that I can't wear it on it's own.

A Million Sparkles

Recently at Target I found Nicole By OPI A Million Sparkles. How could I resist, it has bar glitter! The name holds completely true. AMS has small round and bar blue glitters, medium gold glitters, and large pink holo-y bar glitters all packed into a clear base. The brush is kind of big and rectangular, I wouldn't like it for any other type of polish, by for glitter, it works. I used three coats to cover all my nail but it was pretty thick at that point.

Color Club Magnetics

My friend works at Hot Topic and knowing that I'm a polish fanatic, informed me immediately that the Color Club Magnetic Force collection came into stock. Color Club at a Hot Topic? This brand seems to pop up in the most unusual places. Anyway, my friend picked up a few of the colors from this collection for me! I decided to only get three because they are my first magnetic polishes, and I might have not even ended up liking this effect.
The circular bottles really threw me off at first.

These are Color Club Steel Of The Night, Electro-Midnight, and Hipnotic. They applied really smoothly. Since the magnet comes off, the brush handle is tiny so the brush itself is kinda large in comparison. It was pretty weird to get used to that. I put the magnet on for about 20 seconds to get a nice sharp image. Something I don't like about these is that  after you take the magnet off, the image begins to dissipate. Other than that it's a neat look and it's also kinda fun to do. I can't wait to play around with these more!

Diary

Today's manicure is inspired by another Chuck Palahniuk book, Diary. Inside the cover of Diary there are a lot of simple black and white pictures, as well as a page of vibrant flowers. I thought that this book's artwork would be fun to try and recreate.
I used Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, Color Club Heart To Heart, and just a black and white.

New Stripes

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear recently released some new colors. Naturally, I had to buy them. I really wanted to play around with some of the colors so I just did a simple but fun design.
I used Xtreme Wear Blue Me Away!, Coral Reef, Violet Voltage, and Color Club Jingle Jangle.

Survivor

Today's nails are inspired by the cover of the book Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. The cover has a lot of nice intricate designs on it, so I thought it would be fun to try and recreate them on my nails.
The book cover
I used Xtreme Wear Black Out, White On, and Golden-I.

Sailor Symbols

Today I did Sailor Moon nails, again! Instead of doing their uniform tops, this time I did each of the scouts symbols. I also added the "Outer Scouts" this time. EDIT: I also just found out, months later, that I did the Uranus symbol incorrectly. Next time I'll do better research!

Happy Presidents Day!

A couple days ago my sister requested that I paint her nails for her. Being the awesome sister that I am, I thought I'd give it a shot. My sister is a huge history nerd, so I did a design for Presidents Day. I couldn't fit "Presidents" on her nail so we settled for "Prez." This was my first time really painting someone else's nails! I think it turned out pretty well.
I used Orly Royal Blue, Color Club Heart To Heart, and Wet N Wild French White Creme.

Cherry Blossoms

I'm not sure if these really are cherry blossoms, but that's what my friend has been calling them all day. I was really in the mood to do some work with flowers so this came to be.
The base is Xtreme Wear Black Out. The flowers are Color Club Vintage Couture and Wet N Wild French White Creme.

Minted Jo

I was bored with wearing just a plain color. To add a little something to yesterday's  manicure, Zoya Jo, I thought I would apply Color Club Orna-Minted on top. The result is so wintery! I wish I'd thought of this combination in December.

Zoya Jo

Here's another Zoya that I got a while ago and had yet to really try out. Thisi s Zoya Jo. Jo is a light cloudy blue with micro glitter throughout. It's often described as a "Facebook" blue. The formula was perfect, which is usual for a Zoya polish. Two coats bring full opacity.

Zoya Zara

Zoya Zara is an odd color. I'm still a little unsure how I feel about it. It's a milky mauve with yellow orange micro glitter. The formula was very smooth. The color is a bit sheer though. I used three coats but theres a tiny bit of patchiness and visible nail line. It's a really pretty and unique color but I think I need to wear it longer to decide how I feel about it.
