Dragonfly

My first dragonfly mani. Never pictured myself to wear a dragonfly on my nails before but I'm pretty happy with the overall result. The polishes are Color Club Meet Me At The Rink, Color Club Feathered Hair Out To There, Color Club Hot-Hot-Hot Pants and I used Essie Shine Of The Times for some fun flakies.

Sparkling Mermaid Scales

I recently felt like painting some scales and I really wanted to go full on mermaid with these. I pretty much used any teals, greens, or aquas that I could find and then sponged them on randomly. In order to increase the mermaid effect, I added some shine with iridescent, holo, and flakie polishes; they are Xtreme Wear Disco Ball, Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond, and Zoya Opal. I never would have put all these different types of toppers together before but I absolutely love the outcome; it shines beautifully in every type of lighting. I freehand painted the scales with black acrylic paint. I kept these on for longer than I normally would because I couldn't stop staring at them.

Flakie Fingers

Today I have two flakie manicures! I love flakie polishes, but I just don't find myself reaching for them all that often. This first design has Essie Shine Of The Times on top of China Glaze One Track Mind, with a little detailing using Color Club Cold Metal.

For this one I used Zoya Opal on top of Nails Inc Kensington.

Layla CE52

Hello! Today I'm wearing a pretty neat polish. It's Layla CE 52, It is also commonly referred to as "The Butterfly Effect", but there's no mention of that on the bottle. TBE has a dark purple jelly base that is packed with fiery flakies. They most shift colors between red orange and yellow, but in certain lightings you can see an occasional green glimmer. Since it is a jelly You can wear it alone, or layered over a color. For these swatches I wore is solo. The formula was average, I used three coats. The flakies are incredibly dense in the base, so you don't have to worry about placing them. This polish is normally around 10 dollars at Ulta, but since it was part of the previous Christmas collection, I got it discounted at $6!

Birthday Nails!

Today is my birthday! I wasn't in the mood to go all out with nail art today, so instead I did my favorite polish in my favorite color with my favorite trend and favorite glitter . I love these nails, they're so bright and fun, perfect for a birthday! Before I even added the glitter,  I put a coat of flakie.
Then I added the glitter on top.
I used Color Club Raspberry Rush, Essie Shine Of The Times, and Confetti Tazmanian Devil.
My birthday cake which was made by my sister!

Two Trends In One

About this time last year the Crackle trend was beginning. It's been a while so I thought I would do a bit of crackle. But instead of just crackle I decided to add some flare with a more recent trend, flakies. I like the contrast of the flakies over the blue and white.
I layered China Glaze Crackle Lightning Bolt, Essie Shine Of The Times, and FingerPaints Asylum over Essie Go Overboard.

Matted Flakie

I've heard around that matted flakies look pretty cool, maybe even better than when they're shiny, so of course I had to take a look for myself. Of course it's awesome. I got a ton of compliments on it, and most people thought it was a much more complicated process than it actually is.
I layered Essie Shine Of The Times and Finger Paints Asylum over Xtreme Wear Black Out. I topped that all of with Essie Matte About You.

Finger Paints Asylum

I recently acquired Finger Paints Asylum. Asylum is part of their "flakie" collection. It consists of purple and red flakies in a clear base. It applied really well and had good coverage for one coat. This color is pretty awesome, take a look.

Shine Of The Times

Hey there, I hope everyone had a happy holiday! I went to Walgreens lately and had a pretty great find. Essie Shine Of The Times is part of Essie's Luxeffects collection. It's one of those flaky duchromes that has recently been rising in popularity. I've never really worked with these before so I thought I'd use a couple different colors as a base. I love this color, it looks awesome over anything, especially black, and applies really smoothly.
SOTT over Orly Royal Navy, China Glaze Shower Together, Orly Lucky Duck, and Zoya Mira.
Over Wet N Wild Black Creme.
