Top 15 Nail Art of 2012

Hi! This post is a list of my favorite nail art that I've done over the past year. When I started picking out which designs to put on this list I really didn't think it would be that difficult to narrow it down, but boy was I wrong! I started out doing a top ten, but I just didn't have the heart to narrow it down any further than 15. I tried to make the list a little more diverse, but really, how could I pick a zebra print over something like Spider-Man?! Anyway, Without further ado.... my top 15 nail of 2012!

15. Pumpkin Patch
I did these nails for fall and Halloween. I just really like how they turned out.
14. The Flash
This almost didn't make the list because I think it's a little repetitive, but I like how The flash's logo and name turned out. Plus he's my dad's favorite superhero.
13. Saran Wrap Manicure
This is such a simple manicure, but I just love how it turned out! I think the colors worked really well together. I wore this for about a week.
12. Nutcracker
I had to pick one of my Christmas nail arts! I think this is probably my favorite of all the ones that I did this year. I'm really proud of how his face turned out.
11. Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree
I love this song! And I think this turned out pretty nice.
10. Maze Nails
Again, I just love the color combination. Plus it's neat design, which I borrowed from Chalkboard Nails. This was another that I wore for about a week.
9. Nearly Aflorable
This nail art I did as a copy of one of those Sally Hansen design nail strip things. I think it turned out pretty nice and clean. I thought it was a good impersonation of those Salon Effects strips.
8. The Dark Knight
I did this in anticipation of the final Christopher Nolan Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. I like how Bane and Batman's logo came out.
7. Spider-Man
This was done for the latest Spider-Man movie, The Amazing Spider-Man.
6. Loki
Loki is an awesome villain, and I really like how his chest piece and helmet came out.
5. Flowers
This was during my second go at the 31 Day Challenge. I don't normally do flowers like this because it kind of scares me, but I love how these turned out, and I hated that I could only wear them for one day.
4. The Hobbit
I did these nails for the first Hobbit movie! I'm really happy with how Gollum and Thorin turned out. I still have crummy photos though.
3. Hank Pym
One of my favorite superheros! I think this nail art looks really clean, and I love how his face and iconic helmet turned out!
2. The Avengers
This is my most viewed post, so of course it's on the list. Not to mention that I think it's awesome. I did this for the midnight premiere of The Avengers last May. I painted all ten fingers a different character and I'm so happy with how every nail turned out! Even my right hand!
1. Red Nails
My number one pick is the nail art I did for my car! I painted myself driving down a street in my convertible. It's just so funny to me. I am thrilled with out this turned out, and I think it's a pretty good likeness of my Roy.
On a totally random note, This is the cake my sister and I made for my dad for his birthday! He insisted that I post it on my blog. His birthday was on the 28th. The Flash is his favorite superhero. On the side are the lightning bolts like The Flash's belt.

Happy New Year!

Hello! Happy New Year! I'm cutting it a little close, but here is my nail art for today! I was pretty fond of what I did for my New Years manicure last year, so I wanted to do something similar, but not exactly the same. This is what I came up with.
I used a base of black and sponged on Color Club Winter Affair on the tips. Then I added a coat of Nicole By OPI Rainbow In The S-Kylie and Milani Gems. I wrote 2013 in Zoya Izzy.

Poinsettia

Hello! This post was supposed to go up yesterday, but I got too busy and wasn't able to write it. So now it's going up today, and my last Christmas nail art for the year will go up tomorrow, Christmas day! I painted poinsettias, which are basically the flower of Christmas. I'm not sure if my rendition actually looks like a poinsettia, but I do think it looks nice.
The base is Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet. The poinsettias are China Glaze Merry Berry, Red Satin, and Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow. The leaves are Revlon Posh.

Christmas Tree

Hi! Today I painted my nails with Christmas trees! I went for a zoomed up view of the tree. I think it looks pretty neat! I love how using a green bar glitter makes it look like pine needles.
The base of the green nails is one coat of Zoya Holly, with Rina on top. The red is China Glaze Merry Berry. The silver is Xtreme Wear Celeb City, and the gold is Color Club Gingerbread Man. I'm not sure of the other colors, I began just pulling polishes that would show up well.

Reindeer

Hello! Today's nail art is reindeer! I decided to make them a little silly and cartoonish. I'm not thrilled with this nail art, but I do think the reindeer are super cute. In total I painted all 8 reindeer that lead Santa's sleigh, and of course, Rudolph. On my thumb I  painted Santa.
The base is Color Club Kiss My French. The deer are made of China Glaze Mahogany Magic, Foie Gras, and Revlon Hot For Chocolate. Santa's skin is La Splash Nudist, his hat is China Glaze Red Satin, and his eyes are Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue.

Christmas Skittle Manicure

Hello! I wasn't exactly sure on one design that I wanted to paint on my nails, so I decided to do skittle nails! I did this just as a simple manicure to wear between more detailed designs, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I expected.
The reds I used were Xtreme Wear Red Carpet and Revlon Valentine. For the greens I used Revlon Posh and China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses.

Nutcracker

Hello! Today is another holiday nail art! This time I did nutcrackers! I thought I was such a genius coming up with this idea, I couldn't believe I never thought of it before. I decided to do one whole nutcracker going down all my nails. I love how this turned out! I wish I had had room for his arms though. It was really difficult for me to line up all my fingers vertically.
The base on my pointer is La Splash Nudist. The red is China Glaze Red Satin, and the blue is Man Hunt. The gold is Color Club Gingerbread Man, his nose and blush is Zoya Paloma, and the top of hist boots is Xtreme Wear Wet Cement.

Santa Claus

Hello! Today I have Santa nail art! I might have done something like this before, but I can't really remember. My main reason for doing this was because I wanted to do a more detailed version of Santa's face. Weirdly, I had an easier time painting his face than his jacket.
The red is China Glaze Red Satin. Santa's skin is La Splash Nudist, his rosy cheeks are Zoya Paloma, and his blue eyes are Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue. The white is Xtreme Wear White On, the black is Black Out. The gold buckle is Color Club Gingerbread Man.

The Hobbit

Hello! I am really excited about today's nails! I'm seeing The Hobbit tonight, and as is customary, I did some nail art! Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish these before the sun went down, which meant that I had to take photos in my bathroom. I really wanted to get this post up today and get some pictures now just in case they start chipping. If the nails are still intact tomorrow I'm going to try to get some better pictures. For now, this will do!
On my pinky is Gollum, and my middle finger is The One Ring. On my ring finger is Thorin, the dwarf that leads Bilbo and the Company of Dwarves. On my pinky is a the Hobbits hairy feet. I was kind of weirded out by painting an actual foot on my nail, so I just did the hair.
Bilbo's Hobbit Hole!
Every color on Gollum was mixed, so I have no idea what they are. The ring is Essie Good as Gold. Thorin's skin is LA Splash Nudist, and his hair is a mixture of black and white. The hobbit foot hair is China Glaze Mahogany Magic, and Foie Gras. For Bilbo's house I mixed some white with Zoya Arizona. The door is Revlon Splash and the red trim is Valentine. The grass is Xtreme Wear Green With Envy and LA Splash Greenery, and the sky is Color Club Take Me To Your Chateau.

Twinkle Lights

Hello! Today I'm wearing and awesome glitter from China Glaze's 2011 holiday collection, Twinkle Lights. It has same-sized green, gold, and red glitters in a clear base. It's really pretty, and could probably be worn by itself with enough coats. This manicure originally started out as my attempt at a Christmas saran wrap manicure. It was a huge fail, and ended up looking really muddy. I didn't feel like removing it, so I just threw a festive glitter on top. This is definitely not the best combination of colors. On the bright side, tomorrow I'm going to be posting some Hobbit nail art!

Holiday Sweater

Hello! Today I have sweater nail art! I love holiday sweaters, so when I first saw this design I knew someday I was going to do it. I'm really happy with how it turned out! That star thing gave me a lot more trouble than I was expecting. I used China Glaze Merry Berry, and Xtreme Wear White Out.

Wintery Spun Sugar

Hey there! I absolutely love sugar spun manicure, so naturally I had to do one for winter. This is what I came up with. I did a blue base of Orly Royal Navy. For the "sugar" parts I used Xtreme Wear Celeb City, and a white. I think it turned out pretty well. A couple of a nails got a little wonky, but luckily with this type of manicure that doesn't really matter.

Snow Bunny

Hello! I love today's nail art! I love rabbits, and since I'm doing winter/ holiday manicures, I thought it would be fun to paint a snow bunny! I wasn't thrilled with this at first, but now I can't get over how cute that little bunbun is!
The base is China Glaze Man Hunt with a coat of Dorothy Who? on top. The bunny is Xtreme Wear White On, and so is the snow, but with a coat of China Glaze Frosty on top. The details in the snow and on the bunny are Xtreme Wear Wet Cement. The little pink nose is Zoya Shelby.
