Spun Sugar Again

I recently posted about a nail art technique I recently found out about called Spun Sugar. I enjoyed the manicure so much that I wanted to give it another go. This time I used different colors for the "spun sugar" part to create a sort of gradient effect. Again, I didn't use a topcoat because I liked the texture of my nails.

The base colors are Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue and Pretty In Hot Pink. The detail colors are Wet n Wild French White and Black, Xtreme Wear Wet Cement, and Essie Power Clutch.

Mixed Finishes

I have seen this technique everywhere since I started doing my nails, and I finally got around to trying it for myself. What it is is a design painted with glossy clear paint over a matte polish. For this manicure I used my regular top coat to make the glossy designs. Using top coat was just a little bit tricky because it dries fast, so you have to work quickly. Its a pretty neat look, but I just wish the design was a bit more prominent.

The purple is Zoya Savita, and the Grey is Zoya Dovima.

Spun Sugar

Here is my very first attempt at a manicure technique I just recently discovered called Spun Sugar. I love this idea so much! Okay, so what you do is you dab some polish onto a canvas of some sort and wait until it drys enough that it becomes tacky. Once its tacky you place a toothpick/ toothpick like item into the polish and the nail polish should make a string as you pull away. Then you just place the string across the nail and ta-da! Spun Sugar nails! This manicure works best when using older or low quality polishes because they tend to be goopier and will become tacky quicker.While I was cleaning up my nails I smudged my middle finger, no big deal. I'm not wearing a topcoat in this pictures because I thought it looks kinda neat by itself.

The base color is Xtreme Wear Green With Envy, and the yellow is Mellow Yellow.

Straw Bubbles

Today I have a manicure that was created with the help of a straw. Apparently you can do all kinds of nail designs using straws! This was done by just dabbing the end of the straw in some polish and then placing the end onto my nail. The trick with this is that to get a full circle shape you have to maneuver the straw so that it touches your nail entirely, or else you'll just get some wonky half circles. This is actually my second attempt, because my first one was just a huge mess. But I really like how this one turned out. I have no idea what polishes I used, just a motley of greens, blues, pinks, and purples.

The Twilight Zone

My dad introduced me to The Twilight Zone a couple years ago, and since then we have watched every episode together. I love the original series, and really wanted to do some nail art inspired by it. The Twilight zone is pretty famous for it's iconic opening sequences, so I took images from each other them and painted them on my nails.

 I used Wet N Wild French White, Black Creme, Xtreme Wear Wet Cement, and Essie Power Clutch.

Purr-Fect Plum

Unusually, I found a dark creme polish that I actually felt inclined to buy. It's from China Glaze's fall On Safari collection, and it is called Purr-Fect Plum. Purr-Fect Plum is a dark berry color. I was super excited to get this one, because I didn't own anything like it. When I put it on the nail however, I was a bit disappointed. That's only because on the nail the polish was a lot darker than I had anticipated. The formula was good though, and the color has actually come in handy when doing nail art!

I'm Not Lion

Today I'm wearing the second glitter in the China Glaze On Safari collection. This times it's I'm Not Lion. I'm Not Lion has silver gold and holographic glitter. It has more holo than I Herd That. Like I Herd That, it also covers well in two coats and feels smooth on the nail. I'm not sure which one I like more between the two... IHT has more color, but IML has more holo! Either way, I think they're both keepers.
