New31DC : Day 11

Hello! Today calls for splatter nails! I love doing splatter nails, so I was pretty excited for this day! I did them by putting polish on one end of a straw and quickly blowing out the other. It's kinda easy to go overboard with this kind of mani, so that's something to watch out for! I think this is the first time I used a colored base.
The base is Zoya Lara. I splattered on Zoya Wednesday, Color Club Winter Affair (gold), and Xtreme Wear Black Out.

New31DC: Day 10

We are just about a third of the way through this challenge! The prompt for day 10 is geometric. My sister let me borrow some polishes of hers, and with them I had all of the cremes from Zoya's 2012 summer collection. I used all of those polishes to put together this random geometric design.
I used Zoya Wednesday, Shelby, Arizona, Reagan, and Lara.

New31DC: Day 9

Hello! Day 9 is the saran wrap manicure. The saran wrap manicure is when you paint a color over a completely dry base, and while it's still wet you take a crumbled piece of saran wrap and gently dab some polish off. I had great success with my first attempt at this type of manicure, but since then I haven't had much luck. This particular one is all right, I'm not totally trilled with it, but it gets the job done.
The base is Color Club Take Me To Your Chateau, and the yellow is Orly Lemonade.

New31DC: Day 8

Hi! Day 8 calls for holo, flakie, or duochrome! I tried to get all three into a manicure, but I didn't think the flakie would look good over either one. I decided to so a design using holo and duochromes. I used a base of Color Club Worth The Risque, which is a silver that has very subtle holo. Then I did a leopard print using Zoya Adina, and China Glaze Deviantly Daring, both duochromes. It's difficult to see the duochrome effect on the polishes because they are on such a small scale.

New31DC: Day 7

Hello! Today's prompt calls for ombre or skittle nails! My original plan was to do ombre. I started out with China Glaze For Audrey and mixed in varying amounts of black and white in order to make an ombre effect. The effect turned out to be too subtle, and my camera would hardly even pick up the color difference. I removed that, and instead did my favorite type of skittle manicure.
I love doing at least one nail with flowers and then different designs on the other fingers using the same colors. I'm very happy with how this one turned out, and I'm glad I didn't stick with my miserable ombre.
The grey is Xtreme Wear Wet Cement, and the light purple is Lacey Lilac. The accents on the flower are China Glaze Pucci-Licious, and the leaves are China Glaze Starboard.

Just for fun, here's my sad ombre. I tried to add glitter to improve it, I don't think it worked.

New31DC: Day 6

Hello! Today is day 6, which calls for your favorite color family. I was torn between pink and blue. I went with blue because I just recently painted pink nails. For this manicure I just made a ton of dots using a ton of polishes. I used just about every blue in my collection. The camera makes it a little harder to see all the different shades, but it still looks pretty neat. I did a manicure like this about two years ago using purple and green and I really liked it, so I thought I'd do it again, but with blue!

New31DC: Day 5

Today calls for purple! When I saw this prompt I knew that there was only one thing I could do, the one eye one horned flying purple people eater! I remember hearing the song on that Kidsongs show when I was younger.
The base color is China Glaze Sea Spray. The yellow is Orly Lemonade, and the brown is China Glaze Mahogany Magic. The purples on his face are China Glaze Pucci-licious and Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac. His wings are Zoya Mira.
